Picking the first blog for us to visit was not an easy task, but it is finished. I visited over 200 blogs in this process, and I could have picked any of dozens of them, but in the end, I had to choose just one.
Don’t be discouraged that you weren’t picked this time. You are now part of a community of empathetic, altruistic bloggers who want to help each other, and you will find new blogs and have your blog found for that reason alone, even if you aren’t featured.
Of course, keep in mind that you could be on the phone with me at this time two weeks from now, wondering how you’re going to handle the crazy workload of being featured. You never know.
The Pioneer: Our First Blog to Visit
I just got off the phone with the chosen blogger. She and I were looking at her site, discussing some of the things she might want to tweak, and talking each other through what to expect in the next two weeks. I’ve never done this before either, so we’re both helping each other.
I’m going to reveal this blogger and her blog on Monday, and I’ll give some of her background and explain why I chose her site as well. I’ll also provide some more info on what to expect for the next two weeks for you as a reader and community member. Among other matters, this will include some suggestions on how to get the most out of this process.
Sneak Preview
To build this up a little more, I want to give you a hint of what to expect on Monday. Here are some facts about her and her blog:
- Her site averages only 15 visitors per day.
- One of her posts made me laugh out loud, and I shared that post with my wife. My wife laughed too.
- Her subject matter and her consistency are still being established.
- She’s been commenting on many of your blogs, some of you will recognize her name.
- The improvement in her blogging between a few months ago and the present is huge. She’s a student of everyone, and she’s getting better quickly.
- This blogger has good potential, I think. I’m betting that our group can help her realize it more quickly.
She’s also been kind enough to put up with my blathering variety of feedback and coaching. I promise, I’m learning as much through this as anyone else.
Enjoy the Weekend
I hope your trick-or-treating is fruitful (but not literally, that would be lame) and that your weekend is restful. For this mystery blogger and I, the weekend will include some frenetic work on our respective blogs and a great deal of excited, nervous anticipation.
If I don’t talk to you over the weekend, I’ll see you again on Monday!
