Whoa! – I’m just going to give you the benefit of the doubt – that you were making a clever headline and first paragraph – and really do understand that the “southern stereotype” exists in all parts of our country…’cuse me while I unruffle my feathers.

Hitting the key harder wouldn’t do the trick. I hit the button, it just doesn’t accept the input when the other two keys are already mashed. I could type slower… like Southerners talk, See? More stereotypes.

As for Joey, he’s actually from Alabama, I think. (Just kidding.)

There are other places you’ll find examples of this sort of thing that are clearly outside of the influence of the South. I’m thinking specifically of Joey from Friends: How you doin’?

Though maybe you just need to type slower. Or hit the “g” key with greater intensity. =P

Well, you may want to talk to your fellow southerners in Texas, who spit professionals all over the country who absolutely refuse to drop their accent in press releases and interviews … and in fact accentuate them with pride. If you see a Texan, pass on the sentiment.
