Thanks to the help of a handful of readers (Mark M., Lance Haun, and Jason Preston) and Chris Pearson’s Thesis Theme, it was pretty easy to set up my blog to allow for separate channels of content (this was option 5 in yesterday’s post).
I’ve still got some small things to iron out, but I’m excited about where it is at the moment.
A Perfect Example
I noticed today that the very first comment on Penelope Trunk’s latest post was someone lamenting that her topical blog (career advice) had shifted so much toward being a personal blog lately. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen a comment like this on her site.
It’s no mystery why her writing interests have swung toward other topics from time to time. Career advice gets boring quickly, both for the reader and for the author, and Penelope is a talented writer with a brilliant mind and broad interests.
While she’s done a remarkable job of stretching her topic to the limits, I get the distinct impression that she’d just as soon have the option of writing without the tether from time to time.
